Course Description

This training will focus on participants examining their supervision styles. Participants will review challenging supervisor situations; the importance of maintaining healthy boundaries will be stressed. The training includes information sharing, reflective exercises, and interactive activities to help participants become more informed in effective supervisory practices.

Learning Objectives

  • Participants will be able to identify and utilize self-reflection to address their supervision style.
  • Participants will be able to explain the Discrimination Model of supervision (Bernard & Goodyear, 1992).
  • Participants will be able to employ strategies to maintain healthy boundaries while providing effective supervision.
  • Participants will be able to illustrate their ability to solve challenging supervisory situations through role-play.

  • Eligibility Requirements
    • Participants must submit an individual registration in both ScarletCanvas and CarmenZoom to receive CE credit.
    • You must attend the full session to receive credit. Partial credit will not be awarded, with no exceptions.
      • Your attendance will be automatically recorded by Zoom upon your arrival to and departure from the meeting/webinar.
    • Participants must meet all course requirements as listed on the home page course task list.
  • Guidance
    • Eligible participants will receive an email announcement within five (5) business days of the training indicating access to the course evaluation/feedback survey has been opened.
    • Once your evaluation/feedback survey is submitted, ScarletCanvas-Catalog will generate your CE certificate/certificate of attendance for download and/or print
    • CE hours will be reported to CE Broker within 30-days for OCSWMFTB and OCDP licensees who provide their full license numbers with their course evaluation/feedback survey.

The Ohio State University College of Social Work, (Provider: 1628), is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved as ACE providers. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. OSU College of Social Work maintains responsibility for this course. ACE provider approval period: 4/30/21-4/30/22. Social workers completing this course receive three (3) SUPERVISION continuing education credits.

Meet Your Presenters

  • Angela Fry, MSW, LISW-S, graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in Social Work and a Master of Science in Social Work. Angela’s first job out of school was at CHOICES, a local domestic violence agency in Columbus, Ohio, as a case manager for the women and children staying at the safe shelter. Angela then worked at Catholic Social Services for ten years in a variety of capacities: as a home-based clinician working with families involved with child protective services; as an individual, couple’s and group counseling clinician; and finally as the Clinical Supervisor of the Family Strengthening Division. Angela is currently an Associate Professor in the Social Work & Human Services program at Columbus State.
  • Jorie Schwartz, MSW, LISW-S, is a graduate of the MSW program at The Ohio State University and has worked primarily in the areas of community mental health and school-based prevention. She worked as a field coordinator for the College of Social Work at OSU and is now in what she describes as her “dream job” as Associate Professor of Social and Human Services at Columbus State Community College. She has managed many programs and has supervised staff and students for most of her career.

    • Messages sent to you via this system will list Instructure/Canvas Catalog as the Sender, not OSU CSW.
  • If you are licensed by The State of Ohio CSWMFT Board, please be sure to enter your full license number in the Professional License Information field upon registration and when completing the training evaluation.
