Meet Your Presenter

Dr. Ken Martin, PhD is a Community Development professor in the Department of Extension. Dr. Martin’s areas of expertise are community resource development, economic development, rural development, public policy analysis, leadership, and rural health development. His research and publications have focused on various rural development topics including health care, economic development, policy, local government finance, energy development, and leadership.

Dr. Dee Jepsen, PhD is a Professor with The Ohio State University and the State Leader of the Agricultural Safety and Health Program. She has responsibility for teaching, outreach education and research in occupational safety and health. She teaches agricultural audiences on and off campus with a variety of farm safety topics, including tractor certification, agricultural rescue, and an OSHA and Ag 10-hr Certificate course. Her outreach programs provide community training programs for high school classrooms, farm families and workers, agricultural industry groups, and other professionals seeking to understand safety and health issues farmers face. Addressing safety and health of farm workers takes more than one approach and more than one partner; because of that, Dr. Jepsen collaborates with a variety of stakeholders and organizations to design injury prevention programs that meet the needs of agricultural workers to create a culture of safety on the farm. While she is away from work, Dee lives in Fairfield county with her husband, who full-time farms 1300 acres of corn, soybeans, wheat, and beef cattle.
