Course Description

This free, 1.5-hour training features one module with an edited recording of a live CareLine training that was first held as a Zoom Webinar on April 29, 2021. 

This course explores how homelessness and the housing crisis are exploding in Ohio and across the nation. The program looks at:

  • Historical factors that contributed to homelessness
  • Characteristics of people who experience homelessness
  • Why people become homeless
  • The role of systemic racism
  • How to respond effectively with people who experience homelessness
  • How to get involved to reduce homelessness, both individually and collectively.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify the historical and structural factors contributing to the increase in homelessness.
  • Understand the characteristics of homeless persons, including individuals and families.
  • Respond to people who experience homelessness with compassion and competence.

Continuing Education Classifications

  • One and a half (1.5) CE clock hours
  • Meets requirements for CSWMFT Board
  • Meet requirements for CDP Board in Treatment (C7) & Prevention (PR1)
