Course Description
This free, 1.5-hour training features one module with an edited recording of a live CareLine Development Training series session that was first held as a Zoom Webinar on September 21st, 2022.
This workshop is designed to introduce DBT distress tolerance skills for practitioners working with highly dysregulated, crisis-oriented clients. The role of behaviorism in reinforcing maladaptive behaviors will be highlighted. In addition, the importance of using validation and how to use validation to de-escalate individuals will be presented. Several distress tolerance skills will be taught, including distraction, self-soothing, IMPROVE the moment, pros and cons, the STOP Skill, and finally the TIP skills. Lastly, practitioners will learn DBT strategies to use when misuse of phone coaching occurs.
