Course Description
This free, 3-hour training features one module with an edited recording of a live CareLine training that was first held as a Zoom Webinar on April 22nd, 2022.
It is important that crisis intervention workers and mental health providers understand how to respond to those who engage in nonsuicidal self-injury (SI). The etiology and functions that self-injury serves will be explored, as will the relationship between suicide and SI. Risk, ethics, and practical considerations will also be considered. Strategies for enhancing clients' motivation to change will also be shared. The assessment of SI and an overview of levels of care and treatment considerations will also be provided. Attendees will engage in experiential activities that can be used with clients, so come prepared with paper and drawing/art materials.

- Identify ways that clients’ motivation to cease self-injuring can be enhanced.
